Community Event- PICK ONE

For the Community Event you have two options to choose from in order to fill this requirement (you must pick 1).

  1. Participate in at least one two hour check up event, with at least one other CPS technician present. You should keep any standardized checklist in order to provide documentation that you were there, if needed.
  2. Provide at least four hours of community education. Examples include presenting to parents, educators, kids, organizations (PTAs, law enforcement) etc. These are presentations given to non-CPS technicians*.

Maintain a file as you will be asked to enter Community Education information (dates and details) after you have met other recertification requirements.

*The Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety can supply Illinois technicians with teaching materials for CPS short courses. Please email us at buckleup@dot.il.gov to order Moving Kids Safely in Childcare, Operation Kids: Law Enforcement or Operation Kids: RN.
