Certification and Renewal Courses

Illinois has over 1700 active Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technicians working to educate parents and caregivers on proper car seat use and installation. Regular three- and four-day certification courses are held to train new CPS technicians. Illinois has 61 CPS Technicians certified as instructors who conduct approximately 46 annual training opportunities. Renewal courses are also held for previously-certified CPS Technicians. CPS Technician Skill Builders (TSBs)

In 2019, CPS Technicians and Instructors can attend a regional, single-day training offering six (6) CEUs. Technicians can choose from over 30 TSBs across the state.
