CPS Technician Skill Builders

The Technician Skill Builder (TSB) curriculum planning is underway, and dates/locations will be posted before December 31, 2017. Technicians will be able to choose from over 25 TSBs across the state. Look for registration materials and additional information via mail and email.
The Illinois Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Safety Programs and Engineering (BSPE) hosted the first statewide Child Passenger Safety (CPS) conference in five years on April 10, 2017. Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) and Instructors (CPSTI) were invited to Bloomington to attend this single-day Technical Update featuring nationally recognized speaker, Joe Colella. Advocates from eight different car seat manufacturers attended to offer education and showcase new seats on the market. The conference attracted over 280 CPSTs and offered all six (6) CEUs toward recertification as well as provided networking opportunities and hands-on engagement with a variety of car seats.
The next statewide CPS Conference will be held in 2019. More information to follow.
